This is a nurturing environment where children, staff, parents and governors know each other and share a common understanding of the School’s purpose – to ‘aim high’ and through shared understanding of Gospel values, ensure that the potential of every child is fully achieved. Our children are happy, sociable, well-behaved and value our diversity, which enriches everything we do. We are recognised as ‘outstanding’ by the local authority and are confident this will be endorsed at our next Ofsted inspection.

St Mary Magdalen's Book of the Month

Ms McKune has always loved reading and enjoys the magic that a book can create. She has two favourite books that she often reads with her family and friends.

Haunted House, written by Polish/British author Jan Pienkowski, was a book given to her by her friends, as a joke, on her 18th birthday. She has enjoyed reading it to all her nieces and nephews and has bought them each a miniature copy. She brought this book into school for the Year 1 children to read and they absolutely loved it. They were completely fascinated by the amazing illustrations and paper pop ups.

Ms McKune also really enjoys reading To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. She studied this book during her O Levels and it gave her a true appreciation for good writing and storytelling. Please feel free to ask the office if you can borrow one of these books while you are waiting.

 Happy Reading!
