This is a nurturing environment where children, staff, parents and governors know each other and share a common understanding of the School’s purpose – to ‘aim high’ and through shared understanding of Gospel values, ensure that the potential of every child is fully achieved. Our children are happy, sociable, well-behaved and value our diversity, which enriches everything we do. We are recognised as ‘outstanding’ by the local authority and are confident this will be endorsed at our next Ofsted inspection.

Volunteer Workday gets Kitchen Garden ready for use!

Four of our five volunteers - the other was behind the camera!
Today, on a lovely Spring afternoon, five parent volunteers spent a tough two hours clearing and digging-over the area behind the school kitchen that will soon become the kitchen garden.

There's another session scheduled for next Thursday - ALL VOLUNTEERS WELCOME! - when further digging will be required and dividing up the area for different year groups.  We are grateful to Howarth Timber and Building Supplies who, during the week, will deliver some timber they have donated to build compost bins and to mark out the separate beds.

Mr. Bowes, Science Leader, will use the garden through Spring and Summer to teach each year group about growing vegetables, so they can better make the link between planting seeds and seedlings and growing vegetables to eat.  Who knows, some of them might turn into budding gardeners themselves!

Thanks to all those who took part today.  See you next Thursday afternoon.
