This is a nurturing environment where children, staff, parents and governors know each other and share a common understanding of the School’s purpose – to ‘aim high’ and through shared understanding of Gospel values, ensure that the potential of every child is fully achieved. Our children are happy, sociable, well-behaved and value our diversity, which enriches everything we do. We are recognised as ‘outstanding’ by the local authority and are confident this will be endorsed at our next Ofsted inspection.

Our Great Garden Makeover begins!

This afternoon Mr. Bowes led the first of a series of short 'workday' sessions to bring the garden at the rear of the School Hall and kitchen back into use.  The intention is, over this autumn/winter, to clear a couple of overgrown areas and create some raised beds so that, next Spring, the children can start to grow vegetables which they will eventually be able to eat, and by doing this make the important link between planting seeds, nurturing young plants to maturity and harvesting produce grown.

Before . . .
. . . and after a couple of hours' hard labour - but there's plenty more to do yet!
Today a small group of us made a start on this project by cutting down brambles, self-sown sycamores, ivy and overgrown plants.  Where possible we chipped branches so that the woodchip can be reused on-site.

We made significant progress on clearing the site, but there is plenty more to do before the site will ready for the children!

Mr. Bowes will soon sending a parentmail message setting up a second session to take the project forward and we need volunteers.

We know there are keen gardeners amongst you, but you don't have to be a gardener to help out!  So look out for Mr. Bowes' message, 'sign-up' and get the date in your diary!
