This is a nurturing environment where children, staff, parents and governors know each other and share a common understanding of the School’s purpose – to ‘aim high’ and through shared understanding of Gospel values, ensure that the potential of every child is fully achieved. Our children are happy, sociable, well-behaved and value our diversity, which enriches everything we do. We are recognised as ‘outstanding’ by the local authority and are confident this will be endorsed at our next Ofsted inspection.

Mrs Saunders to succeed Mr. West as Head Teacher in September

Our current Head Teacher, Graeme McGlasson-West has today written to parents to let them know he will take early retirement at the end of the current, Summer, term.  Graeme has been Head Teacher here for 5 years during which the School has moved from close to the bottom of Lewisham’s league table, to the top in 2015 and to the top 5% of primary schools in the country.

Mr West has given this School his total commitment, care, faith and talent.   Pupils, parents, staff and governors have all benefited hugely from having had him as Head Teacher.   Danny McGrath, Chair of our Governing Board writes in his letter to parents “ . . . it has been a pleasure and an education to have the opportunity to work with [Graeme].  The ethos and values, which are at very heart of the School, have been strengthened and enhanced.”

On receipt of news of Mr. West’s intention to retire, in January 2016, the Governing Board set in motion the process of finding a new Head Teacher, under the guidance of the Southwark Diocese and the London Borough of Lewisham.  We are delighted to report that, after a rigorous process, Mrs Sally Saunders, our current Deputy Head Teacher, has been appointed as the substantive Head Teacher as from September 2016.

We are immensely fortunate to have gained Mrs Saunders as our Head Teacher and the Governing Board is confident that the future of the School is in safe hands.  The work and progress of the School over the last five years will continue to be developed.   Danny McGrath further writes “I thank all the School community for their support and work and ask that the same energy and support is afforded to Mrs Saunders . . .”
