This is a nurturing environment where children, staff, parents and governors know each other and share a common understanding of the School’s purpose – to ‘aim high’ and through shared understanding of Gospel values, ensure that the potential of every child is fully achieved. Our children are happy, sociable, well-behaved and value our diversity, which enriches everything we do. We are recognised as ‘outstanding’ by the local authority and are confident this will be endorsed at our next Ofsted inspection.

Summer Celebration 2015 and PTA Treasurer opportunity

Our Summer Celebration will take place on Wednesday 1st July between 2.30–5.00pm.  The Parent Teacher Assocation (PTA) - of which you are all members - is trying a different approach this year by moving the event from a Saturday to a weekday after school.  As many of you collect your children from school, the PTA hope that you will take this opportunity to support St.Mary Magdalen’s fund raising and have a great time as well.
Your children will be fully involved in planning the many exciting activities on offer and will be running some stalls themselves.  This has proved to be very successful during Charity Fundraising Fortnight and has given the children a lot of fun too.

The afternoon will also be an opportunity for you to see and hear some of the great curriculum projects that have been part of this year’s teaching and learning.  The choir will be performing, we have budding Shakespearean actors ready to entertain you and your children can make their own smoothies on the ‘smoothie bike’.  There will be refreshments available including cakes, soft drinks and a BBQ run by our award-winning school cook, Ms Weston.

What are we fundraising for?

First, a new stage - we need a new, bigger and more flexible stage in the school hall, as we are currently very restricted on the types of performances we plan for the children to take part in.

Second, an improved garden area - we want to redesign the garden area behind the hall, so that it becomes a much more useful and adaptable outside learning space, which is available all year round, for all classes.

What this means is that no matter which class they are in, your children will benefit, and have a more enriched learning experience as they progress through the School.

How can you get involved?

Simply come along and support us on the day!  Your children will be keen to show you the stalls they have organised and the performances they have prepared.  As we are very much a community school we hope you will bring your friends and family to join in the fun.

Of course, if you are able to assist on the day then the PTA would be delighted to hear from you. Please let Mrs Waite or Mrs Dawson in the office know if you are able to help.

We would also like to bring to your attention that the PTA is currently in need of a Treasurer.  If you feel that you could fulfil this role then please let us know.
