On Monday, Year
Six travelled to Lee Fire Station with Mrs Saunders, Miss Gardener and Mrs
Bekir to take part in Lewisham’s Young Citizen's Training. They went to several
workshops including - how to travel safely and responsibly on the bus and underground; awareness of the use and misuse of legal drugs such as alcohol and tobacco;
fire safety within the home; understanding antisocial behaviour and the forms it
takes; legal rights and responsibilities; road safety; and personal safety.
The workshops presented an opportunity for wide and interesting discussion, and the staff were particularly impressed with maturity of the questioning by the pupils and the level of their participation.
We hope this experience will enable Year 6 students to travel safely to their secondary schools and be exemplary citizens.
