This is a nurturing environment where children, staff, parents and governors know each other and share a common understanding of the School’s purpose – to ‘aim high’ and through shared understanding of Gospel values, ensure that the potential of every child is fully achieved. Our children are happy, sociable, well-behaved and value our diversity, which enriches everything we do. We are recognised as ‘outstanding’ by the local authority and are confident this will be endorsed at our next Ofsted inspection.

A busy week at St. Mary Magdalen's

The week of 3-7 March was an eventful week.  Charity stalls, to raise money for Hearing Dogs for the Deaf, were held during breaks on Mon-Weds, organised by house teams Luke and John.  Stalls included a ‘touchy feely box’, where you felt inside the box and if you guessed the object inside correctly you won a prize.  There were cake stalls, craft stalls and there was a competition to design a coat for Jamie, the hearing dog, that visited our School with his owner Maggie recently.

On Shrove Tuesday, staff and pupils made pancakes for the whole School in preparation for Lent.  On Ash Wednesday the whole School went to Mass, at St Mary Magdalen's Church, with Father Joseph and Deacon Bill, to receive ashes in order to mark the beginning of Lent.  This is a period of penance, fasting and contemplation in preparation for Christ's Resurrection on Easter Sunday.

Thursday was 'World Book Day'.  Staff and pupils came to School dressed as their favourite book character.  Pippy Longstocking, Perfect Peter, Creatures from Shadow Forest, The Fantastic Mr Fox, Lady W from Black Beauty, Cinderella, Snow White, Darth Vader, Robin Hood, Tinkerbell, Flat Stanley and Tutankhamun all made an appearance (see photos below) celebrating our love of reading.  Fun activities were held in the afternoon to emphasise the enrichment that books bring to our lives.

A big thank you to parents, teaching staff and support staff who made all a memorable week.
