This is a nurturing environment where children, staff, parents and governors know each other and share a common understanding of the School’s purpose – to ‘aim high’ and through shared understanding of Gospel values, ensure that the potential of every child is fully achieved. Our children are happy, sociable, well-behaved and value our diversity, which enriches everything we do. We are recognised as ‘outstanding’ by the local authority and are confident this will be endorsed at our next Ofsted inspection.

School scoops Gold Award for its Sustainable Travel Plan

Sally Saunders (Deputy Head) and Cynthia Lamptey
(School Travel Champion) with Daisy (Yr4) and
Emma (Yr.5), our School Travel Ambassadors
At today's Transport for London awards ceremony held at The Oval Cricket Ground, the School gained the Gold Award for its School Travel Plan.  This is a wonderful achievement by all those who put in the hard work behind the scenes.

To achieve Gold standard a school must be able to demonstrate that it has achieved at least a 6% decrease in car use to and from school or have 90% of pupils travelling sustainably to and from school at least some of the time over a period of the last three school years; that it has run travel initiatives and shown innovation in its travel activities; and, in addition, a school must demonstrate an outstanding level of participation in walking, cycling, road safety, smarter driving, public transport or a pupil-led project.

You'll find more information here on the 'STAR awards' and how you can play your part in the School's ongoing efforts to promote sustainable travel.

Well done St.Mary Magdalen's!
